Girls' Day and Full Body Massages

I have been side by side with my son since his birth, two years ago.  I have only been away from him for short amounts of time and only one night.  That one night was on our anniversary and my husband and I stayed at a nearby hotel to relax for the evening, only I didn't sleep a wink, I couldn't relax being away from my lil man for the first time.

I was in need of some relaxation.  Back in February, I purchased two massages at a discount on Tennessee Valley Deals.  Expecting to use them with my husband, we continued to wait to try to find a time that was convenient for us.  That time would be in the summer, when we could leave our children with my parents.  We couldn't leave AJ with my dad without our daughter because he's disabled and can't handle AJ in all of his glory by himself and my mom works from 8-5.  Well, summer came and went and the massages were forgotten about in all the hecticness that is summer.  When school started back, I remembered these massages and then I saw the expiration date: August 31, 2012.  What to do?

My husband had a wonderful idea, take my friend Amy, who is the mom of my daughter's best friend, Lexie, who has quickly become my bestie.  She is married to a Baptist preacher and my family is blessed to be able to call their family our friends.  I text her to ask if she would be interested and she was and had never had a professional massage.  I had only had one and it was a long time ago.  She is dealing with health issues and the stress and joy of watching her youngest start kindergarten.  Their youngest was born very early and was very small and they thought at one point they wouldn't see the day of her starting kindergarten.  This would be relaxing for both of us.

We showed up at Bluewater Massage and Bodyworks to get our massages.  On the door it said Holistic, and we had no idea what that even meant...  Google again... We learned it was an entire body experience so we sort of knew what to expect, but not totally.  We went in and received our paper work to complete.  Then we went into our separate rooms.  I had Dee and she had Summer.  It started with us taking deep breathes of Lavender to relax and at the end of our hour full body massage we took deep breathes of Eucalyptus.  When I walked out of the room and saw Amy, we then had a discussion of exactly who was going to drive as we were both SO relaxed.  I'm not sure exactly how long it took for my eyes to fully open, but it was a while.

We ran through the drive-thru at Chick-fil-a and then it was to the nail salon we went.  I had planned to get my feet done, but Amy doesn't want people messing with her feet, and I had just had my feet massaged while getting my massage, so we opted to get our nails done.  It was a WONDERFUL day with a WONDERFUL friend.  I was SO relaxed that I actually went to be at 7:15 that night.  Moms must get out and have some "me" time every now and then.

  1. Sounds like some well deserved rest and pampering! Good for you-- it really IS hard to break away from the kids without feeling a little guilt at first. With practice, it won't bother you much at all! LOL
