"Who's that?" A Parenting Fail

Most of my "mommy life" I have been pretty proud, but last night, well...  After supper I was flipping through the channels and got to TNT where I found The Dark Knight.  It was already an hour into, but my husband and I had seen it before.  We sat down to watch it and thinking our ten year old daughter had surely seen it as much we watch those kinds of movies and love them.  Well, she got comfy in the recliner during a commercial and was acting excited to be watching "Batman" with us.  When the commercial ended and the movie came back, my daughter said, "who's that?"

I said, "Batman" in a very confused tone.  Then followed with, "you didn't know that was Batman?"  My husband and I said basically at the same time, "FAIL!"  Thant wasn't referring to our daughter, but yet to ourselves.  I mean, who let's their daughter reach the age of ten without seeing the Batman movies and knowing who Christian Bale is?  Wow!  I'm such a tom-boy and action movie junkie and just don't know how this slipped through the cracks.  We will definitely be watching the movies from the beginning tonight when my husband gets home from work to try to fix our major oversight.

  1. I shudder to think that she may not know the Star Wars characters! :P

  2. :( Yes, I failed there too... We have a family friend that buys anything and everything Star Wars and my daughter just gets confused and shrugs... I have called our boxer, Tiger, Chewbacca before when he's loud and whining and she unfortunately has no idea who that is either.

  3. Awww...well now that she's on vacation, you should have some family viewing nights. Great way to spend some time together. We've been doing stuff together now that all of the kids are on vacay and it's been turning out super!
