Alabama Softball and Their First National Championship

Being from Alabama and an Alabama fan, it comes easy to support all things Bama.  However, next to the football team, we love softball (especially since my baby girl plays) and this team of ladies is so awesome.  No, I don't know them personally, but we met some of them in February when we made a trip back to my home city of Opelika, AL.  On that Friday night before we went back to our hotel, we went by the Marble Slab to get some ice cream.  Now, when we go to the Auburn area, the last thing we expect to see is anything Alabama.
We had no idea there was a softball tournament going on, but look who my daughter had ice cream with.

They told us about the tournament and that they would be playing Sunday morning, the day we were leaving, so we could go watch them on our way out of town.  We knew with us living so far away, this would be our only time to see them play, so we had to go.

Bama won and as they boarded the bus, my little softball player got to meet these wonderfully nice ladies.
The first person she met told her she had just put a fruit snack in her mouth so Lyssa had to eat one too.  We have since named her "Gummy Bear."

Assistant Head Coach
Alyson Habetz
#10 Shortstop
Kaila Hunt
She's not in uniform because she was already on the bus in the warmth and got off the bus in the cold to meet Lyssa.  She will forever be my daughter's hero, not only for the fact that she plays SS, or the fact that she played a wonderful game, but because of the fact that she came back in the cold just to meet a fan.
We had a wonderful time watching them play and this group of ladies is so special to my daughter and we are so happy we got to meet them and so happy for them.  Not only was this the first National Championship in softball for Alabama, but also the first for the SEC.  These ladies have paved the way for the future of softball for Alabama and the SEC.
