First Snow of 2011

Ok Ok, so I'm a bit of a skeptic and I truly didn't believe that we would get any snow.  At first the predictions were a little believable given what we woke up to on Christmas.  The first predictions were two to four inches, then it went to three to five, then they lost me at four to eight.  I have seen in years past that when the area "braces" for something big, normally nothing much happens.  As a skeptic, I didn't run get bread and milk, of course Wal-Mart was out of everything anyway.

Then as the night went on I began to see pictures on my friends Facebook pages of snow in their area.  First were the pictures of Russelville, then came Killen, then the statements about snow in Tuscumbia.  I was convinced even more that there would be no snow for Muscle Shoals, as clearly the snow had skipped us.  My husband went to Wal-mart to get some food for me to cook.  Since it was supposed to snow we didn't grocery shop, we just bought stuff for sandwiches in case we lost power.  He text me from outside Wal-Mart when he was leaving that he saw five whole snowflakes.  Then as he left Food World, another text that it was slightly coming down.

After he got home I went outside with camera in hand to see if we were going to get the snow that the other places had been getting.  Only 15 minutes later did I walk outside and see a crazy amount had fallen and I continued to track our snow fall throughout the night like I was some kind of reporter.  However, I have never seen this much snow in my life, so it was kind of fun and very exciting.  Here is the progress;

This what it looked like at 8:30 pm
the street was mostly clear

This is what it looked like at 8:45 pm
