Manic Mondays

Well, I think I have decided on a new weekly Blog. I am going to call it Manic Mondays because I'm going to try to write it every Monday to let everyone know what to expect from the Tennerys for the week. Of course Mondays are never fun, therefor "Manic.".

As I write this my car is on a toe truck headed to Huntsville to finally be fixed. I have learned the hard way that cheaper never comes out cheaper. I should have paid $750 for the dealership to install a new power steering pump a ling time ago. Instead I paid $125 for one of a wrecked Forenza and $175 for it to be installed. Then the seal leaked, luckily the junk yard had another 1, so they swapped them out, yep another $100 to the person switching them out. Then, the pump blew while I was sitting at a friends house about to take her daughters maternity pictures. So, now yep you guessed it, $750 to the dealership. Thank goodness for State farm and full coverage insurance for paying for the tow.

Tuesday - hoping to finish cleaning/organizing the house since my hubby is off work, we started Friday night.  Well, I could actually say I started since I built the first of the three computer desks Friday night.  I built the other two and a linen cabinet for the bathroom Saturday.  Then Saturday night my husband helped build bunk beds.

Wednesday - Wordless Wednesday, hoping for something great this week since I missed posting last week.

Friday - Family Fridays... Hoping to have a game night this week, it's long overdue BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop

Saturday - Kid's Workshop at Home Depot, making a heart shaped shelf

I Made Fajitas!

I know it doesn't seem like much to a lot of people, but I am pretty proud of myself.  I made fajitas tonight for my husband.  Why am I so proud you may ask, well because I cooked things that I don't know how to cook.  I chopped up an onion and a green pepper and sauteed them in a pan, of course he wanted them cooked with Dale's sauce.  I also chopped him a tomato.  Now, I don't even eat onions, green peppers, or tomatoes, so all of this is quite an accomplishment to me.  But I am really proud of myself and my husband seemed to really like them.  So I guess, "I done good."

Adventures with Alex - Baby Alex Rolls over

Baby Alex has been very sick lately, seems as though the only way to get him to sleep well is after a breathing treatment, which he has to take four times a day.  In between time I try just about everything to get him to stop crying, which is more of a squeak because he is so hoarse.  This after noon I decided to put him on his stomach.  I admit I don't do this very often, although I a supposed to, as he hates it and will scream, he even did so at the doctor's office.

A few moments after placing him on his stomach he rolled over.  We were all stunned and decided to see if he would do it again or if it was a fluke.  Nope, he rolled over again.  I got out my iPhone, also know as my video camera and sure enough he did it again.  After rolling over three times he seemed tired and took a short nap.  After waking and a breathing treatment, I decided to see if I could get him to do it for my camera.  My baby boy rolled right over, as if he has been doing it all the time.

Adventures with Alex - Breathing Treatments

About eight days ago I took Alex to see the doctor for a slight cough.  I know it was slight and normally I am not an over protective parent, but since my entire house had whatever this was, I wanted to catch it in Lil Man before it got too bad.  He weighted in at 14 pounds 7 ounces.  The doctor tested him for RSV, luckily that was negative.  She listened to his chest and heard some bronchitis.  When she looked at his ears she said his right ear was a little pink, but not red.  So, she gave a cough medicine, an antibiotic for his ear, and medicine for his wheezing.

Right after the snow hit and we were out in it, his temperature went up to 100.8.  I gave a dose of Tylenol and two hours later his temp had only dropped to 100.2, however that's not very high so I thought I would just ride it out.  Then things began to turn bad.  I watched him get sicker and sicker, his cough getting worse and worse.  So bad that he was only sleeping for a max of two hours at a time as he would wake himself up by coughing and then scream for another 30 minutes until I could get him back to sleep.  Of course the doctor's offices were probably closed due to the weather since everything else was closed.  And his doctor prefers ECM, so that would mean trying to drive across a bridge to get him to the ER.

I waited until today for his re-check of his bronchitis.  He weighted in at 15 pounds even and hasn't been eating much.  His right ear was fine, but now his left ear had turned a little pink, a different antibiotic for that.  Now, about this 9 ounce weight gain, probably fluid.  After two chest x-rays, he now has to take breathing treatments four times a day.  Bless him, he just coughs and coughs, but he took his first breathing treatment like a man, or trooper I guess I should say.  Here's to hoping he gets better soon.

BCS National Championship Game

Well Today is the Day, the National Championship game in college football.  My Crimson Tide is not in the game this year, but my husband's Auburn Tigers are.  We had planned to watch the game and be all festive with my hubby and Lil Man both in their Auburn Gear, however we didn't plan on being sick and really hadn't planned on being snowed in with 9" of snow on the ground.  Earlier in the afternoon we all played in the snow, which came back to bite us considering we were all sick already.  After playing in the snow, we all came in and ate some chili that I had made and did our different things.  Benji played on the computer, Lil Man fussed and tried to sleep, but his fever shot up to 100.8, and Lyssa and I watched some Desperate Housewives courtesy of Netflix.  After a while I could no longer stay awake, so I handed her the remote and asked her to please wake me when the game came on.  As hard as she tried, it just didn't happen I was exhausted.

I woke up with 5 minutes left in the 1st and it was tied at 0.  Oregon got a field goal shortly after that.  My husband said he couldn't believe they were going to kick it.  I responded telling him they wanted any possible points if the game was really as close as he said, he then told me it was their 3rd time inside the 10.  A few passes later and touchdown Auburn!  Making it 7-3 Auburn.  Auburn kicks and after Oregon catches it and is drug back to the 5, Oregon QB throws a bullet down field to get Oregon to the 10 before the player is run out of bounds.  The TD was achieved and then Oregon went for 2 and was successful, giving Auburn the ball 4 minutes into the 2nd quarter.

After burning over 7 minutes off the clock Newton threw a short pass towards the ground in the in zone on 4th down.  Of course you can't use the ground to trap a ball, so Oregon's ball with 3:44 left in the 2nd half.  Due to field position and a penalty, Auburn gets a safety for 2 points.  I have to admit my husband and I both thought it wasn't a safety until the announcers on TV explained the entire ball has to be across the line and it clearly wasn't.  11-9 Oregon, Auburn has the ball back with 3:20 left in the 2nd.  With a wide open TD pass to Blake #80, Auburn is back on top 16-11 with 1:47 on the clock. After a very disappointing show of class an Auburn player kicked an Oregon player while he was on the ground.  Oregon got a few 1st downs, but was unable to put points on the board, giving Auburn the ball back with 30 seconds remaining.  It was a no go on the score board, so we go to half time with a score of 16-11 Auburn.

So, I missed quite a bit of the 3rd quarter as I was making a bottle, making hot chocolate, and getting Lil Man his medicine.  I did see a few unsportsmanlike things from the Auburn players.  But I finally sat down with 5:42 left in the 3rd to hear about all the injuries.  At this point the score was 19-11, so apparently I missed a field goal by Auburn.  After a faked punt by Oregon, they are stopped on the one yard line with a 4th and goal play.

It's time for the 4th quarter, only one quarter away from a National Championship... Guess that means yet ANOTHER Auburn shirt for my husband.  Well, with 5 minutes left on the clock, I have missed 10 minutes of the 4th quarter, this time because I'm making my husband some blueberry muffins.  He wanted some blue to go with his Tigers.  As I typed that sentence my husband said, "the Ducks won't get the ball back.".  And the interception happened, so Oregon did get the ball with 4:30 on the clock. And now with Oregon on the 4 yard line Fairley jumped early, moving the Ducks to the 2.  Touchdown Oregon.  And with the 2 point conversion we are tied at 19 with 2:33 left in the ball game. What a brilliant play by Auburn, his knees never touched the ground.  Touchdown Auburn!  But of course we are reviewing... Ball being placed at the 1/2 yard line.  And with a field goal it's over 22-19.

It had to be an SEC game since these was an SEC team involved.  Those nail biter close games down to the last seconds really get me, but that's one thing I love about SEC football.  Auburn has their championship and the SEC has five championships in a row!

Snow Day

Well, it's officially ten days into the new year and we had our first "snow day" which simply means Lyssa didn't have school.  Of course no one in their right mind would have wanted school to be in session considering we woke up to nine inches of snow on the ground.  Although my entire family has been sick, some of us since Christmas, I just couldn't stay inside considering I have never seen that much snow in my 29 years of life.

I really wanted a picture of my entire family in this beautiful snow, so I asked a good friend and neighbor id she would mind getting out in the snow to snap a couple of pictures for me since my camera remote battery is dead.  She said she didn't mind and here we went out in this nine inches in hopes of a pretty picture.  Well, I got my picture and then my daughter and husband just couldn't behave for a few seconds, so the snow went flying.  Liz, my neighbor, just couldn't leave she was actually having a good time laughing at our goofy family.  And I couldn't be happier that she stayed.  I have wonderful memory filled pictures and I actually got to act like a goof instead of just holding a camera.

What an absolutely wonderful Snow Day!
